My experience with First OnSite (Calgary) following a flood in July 2025 was extremely poor. 😢 The underlying cause of the flooding was not resolved for approximately two months, despite early warnings that it would continue if not addressed. During that time, water repeatedly re-entered the unit, causing ongoing and avoidable damage. Instead of addressing the source, mitigation efforts were inconsistent and, at one point, halted while the unit was still actively flooding. This allowed the situation to continue deteriorating. Work proceeded while water was still entering the unit. Flooring and portions of carpet were removed, but not all affected materials were addressed, and reinstallation planning began before the flooding issue had been resolved. This sequencing does not make sense and contributed to further damage. The water classification used did not align with the observed conditions, including stormwater intrusion and visible contamination. Despite multiple flooding incidents and repeated site visits, the situation was recorded and handled as a single event, which does not reflect what actually occurred. Personal belongings were not properly protected. Items were stacked together without containment while exposed to water and debris, increasing the risk of contamination and additional loss. Requests for documentation and explanations were not meaningfully addressed. Communication was limited and often dismissive, even as the situation continued. A forensic engineering review has since identified significant deficiencies in how this was handled, including failure to address the full water pathway and prevent continued damage. This was not a one-time issue—it was a prolonged situation that was not managed properly. The result was increased damage, unnecessary delay, and significant distress. The work ultimately had to be taken over by another contractor. Based on my experience, I would not trust this company to manage a flood where the source of water has not been fully identified and resolved.

This is the worst restoration company. Christian Valdez is the worst project manager i have ever seen. I would give 0 stars if I could. No accountability. I went with them because they are a TD preferred vendor. First, I had my roof wind damaged. They came in suggesting emergency repair so water wouldn't leak into the home. The whole purpose of the emergency repair was to prevent water damage by tarping the roof, which they didn't do until almost 3 weeks of rain and snow, which caused significant damages to my home and ceiling. They brought a company, GCR, to inspect and fix the roof. They ended up nailing back the old damaged roof and calling it a day. For 3 weeks I had to endure rain and snow, daily water leaking into my house. They ignored all my phone calls and messages. I had to escalate the issue to the insurance adjuster. After 3 weeks, I finally got my roof tarped. Over 4 times they said they were coming, but no one showed up. Christian is instructing his employees to not talk to the homeowners. They want to come in and do what they want without even talking to the home owners. They held my claim hostage for 3 weeks. They brought a company that's not insured or qualified to work on a flat roof to attempt to do the repairs, inspect, and provide an estimate for a flat roof. After 2 weeks of doing nothing, I had to make many phone calls so they could follow up on why it was taking too long and was told their contractor doesn't do flat roofs. And in the end, after 3 weeks, they finally gave my adjuster the repair estimates. It was priced so low that it makes it impossible to find any other company to do the work. Additionally, it was missing lots of things that were part of the damages. They are trying to cut every possible corner to avoid making the correct repairs. According to them, my roof plywood and joist, which were damaged by both wind and water, are basically wear and tear, and according to them, they will just stain and paint them before placing a new roof on top. Water is now pooling there. According to them, that's normal for a flat roof, which is definitely not. I couldn't find a single roofer that would even attempt to install a new roof on damaged plywood except for FirstOnsite. Doing this voids the new roofs manufacturer warrenty if you attempt to install it over damaged joists and plywood. On the interior side, they are saying my water damaged ceiling will pretty much have 1 coat of paint (for the damaged area). I had over 6 drywall companies inspect this and all said it's nearly impossible to match the old and new ceiling to the size of it (30%) All recommended the entire ceiling to be resurfaced. FirstOnSite what's to do just 1 coat of mud and paint lol. They destroyed my home. I am in the process of escalating this issue as I do have all documents and communication logs. Avoid this garbage company at all costs.

IF I COULD LEAVE 0 STARS I WOULD - WORK NOT COMPLETED - PAID SETTLEMENT & DOESN'T COVER THINGS TO BE FINISHED – NO MORE WARRANTY. First Onsite (FOS) was hired with a TD insurance claim & A LOT happened that I can’t even write everything. Here are a few things. 1: Apr/May - A company contacted me to redo the island & penciled in a date. I sent a text to Evonna Bercier - the Construction Manager, asking if a plumber could be here that morning, no reply so I also sent in the chain email. Evonna emailed that she was waiting to hear from them when they wanted to book us in. She didn’t EVEN read the text message or email. I replied, we have a date & waiting to hear about a plumber. BOOKED 3 days before date & made the company wait as well to be fully booked. It took 8 full days just to book a PLUMBER. 2: May - I texted Evonna at 9:09am, that I will be in and out & to not park on the driveway. After that I received this RUDE text/email that the plumber can’t get into the home & that we are not doing our PART as homeowners. Called my hubby at WORK to ensure he unlocked the screen door before we called her. We asked why the plumber can't get into the home & she said "I DON’T KNOW" & she was upset with us…!!! After my appointment, I received another text/email saying plumber in the home & dishwasher is full & unable to move it. Home within 7 minutes to unload it & the dishwasher was already MOVED. Asked the plumber what the problem was & he was told someone would be home to let him in & he was NOT given the lock box info. Evonna just assumed someone would be home, even after I texted her. What is the POINT of the lock box? IF IT IS NOT GOING TO BE USED CORRECTLY! I involved John Shores – the Branch Manager, of what has happened so far. He did not stay involved, follow up with emails, or with me, also never answered emails that were directed to him. See Photos. 3: Nov/Dec - Dylan MacKey - Site Supervisor - emailed & tentatively booked, if the floors ARE done. The floor repair happened & they were NOT done. An email was sent in OUR CHAIN that they were NOT done. No reply from anyone. FOS unfortunately showed up few days after email & the home was not ready for them to finish the work & had to send him away. What is the point of ANY MANAGER from FOS if they are not going to follow up or read emails of what is currently happening with the claim? 4: Other things: - See Photos, POOR WORK on everything. Was a constant fight, when they wrecked/damaged something, they wouldn't contact a manager & let them know. Leaving us to find it later & bring it to the current person we were dealing with at the time, Evonna or Dylan MORE THAN ONCE. - Don't read emails fully before THEY REPLY, therefore questions, concerns are not answered & or an update of the home is NOT READ. - ASKED numerous times to have the electric box attached to the gable for safety, this took 26 days to get DONE. - Wouldn’t hear from them for days/weeks or unless you follow up on what was going on with the claim. - A lot of times there was MISS COMMUNICATION & a LOT was so UNORGANIZED. - Had to constantly ask for FOS & others they hired to NOT park in the driveway. - FOS constantly booked us to finish work, when the floors were NOT done, then the floor needed to be fixed a few times, we would need to rebook with FOS. WHAT A WASTE OF EVERYONE'S TIME & $$. - Lock box was removed after two months after of them deciding to not work with us; we had to get TD involved because John Shores wouldn’t return our call to discuss the extra work that was still on the list & the removal of the box in January. They are very unprofessional & disrespectful to homeowners. I DON'T RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE! My Reply To John Of My Review Is In The Photos
